Southport House Dental is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

 

We recognise our responsibility to protect children from harm and to act in their best interests at all times.

All members of staff understand that the welfare of the child is paramount and that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe and welcoming environment for children and young people

  • Ensuring all staff are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities

  • Identifying and responding appropriately to concerns about a child’s welfare

  • Acting in accordance with relevant safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practice

Staff Responsibilities

  • All staff receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training

  • Staff are alert to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation

  • Any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing are taken seriously and acted upon promptly

Reporting Concerns

If a member of staff has a concern that a child may be at risk of harm, this will be reported immediately to the practice’s Safeguarding Lead, who will take appropriate action in line with local safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance.

Where necessary, concerns will be shared with the relevant local safeguarding authorities to ensure the child receives appropriate protection and support.

Confidentiality

We respect confidentiality and information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis, in line with safeguarding legislation and professional guidance. Confidentiality will never be a barrier to protecting a child from harm.

Review of This Policy

This safeguarding statement is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains up to date with current legislation and guidance.
